Statistical maps are used to analyze any sort of global or regional parameter. The above map shows the level of internet access and international bandwith in Africa in December, 1997. While most of the countries had 64 Kbps or more, a few countries still had just 9.6 Kbps. This map could be compared with the same map from years before or years following to show how fast the internet is advancing in the continent.
