DLG (Digital Line Graph)

Digital line graphs were developed by the U.S. Geological Survey. They are compilations of various types of cartographic data represented in the form of digital vectors. The above digital line graph is of the southwestern United States. There are various different symbols used in a DLG. The red lines in this DLG are roads, the blue lines are streams. The different shades of land surface are types of federal lands, such as different government bureaus. DLGs are great when used with a GIS, as the vector form of the information makes data that much easier to distribute and analyze.
