Cartographic Animation

There are many types of maps that can be considered cartographic animations. Any visual animation of cartographic data falls under this umbrella. The above animation was taken from the NOAA Center for Tsunami Research's website, which archives animations for many relatively recent tsunamis around the world.The spread of the tsunami throughout the Pacific Ocean is shown in a time lapse from when it began until exactly 24 hours after the start.
